Chef & Gastronaut Skiz Fernando and Chef Wilma Consul join forces in this friendly Iron Chef showcasing two great world cuisines of the moment: Sri Lankan & Filipino food. The not so secret ingredient of the evening is coconut, and each chef will prepare an appetizer, main course, and dessert that incorporates some form of this ingredient. Expect bold flavors and prepare to have your taste buds rocked!

 

The Menu


Starters:
Ginataang Kalabasa and Ginataang Alimasag             
(Coconut Squash Soup & Lump Crab) 

Pol (Coconut) Roti with Fish Ambul Thiyal (sour fish curry)                                  


Main Courses:
Ginataang Adobo (Chicken Adobo with Coconut Milk)            

Hoppers (coconut milk crepe) with coconut sambol and black pork curry

Dessert:
Palitaw (Rice Cakes in Grated Coconut & Sugar)
& Macaroons 

Wattalapam (Coconut flan)

Chef Wilma fulfills her passion for food as the owner of Citizen Cook, which offers personal chef and catering services in the DMV. She believes in sourcing from local, organic, seasonal and sustainable products and practices. NPR launched its Hot Pot video series in June with her cooking memories and her vision to serve healthy and gourmet Filipino food. When not cooking, she produces for NPR and works as a fitness instructor.
