Hosting this edition of The Sri Lankan Supper Club is the "Live Wide," a 40-foot catamaran docked at Pier 5 in Baltimore's Inner Harbor (next to the red Lighthouse at the end of the pier). Though we will not be taking her out for a spin, we will have a free vantage point for the Chicago concert going on at Pier 6 that evening.
Chef Skiz Fernando will be serving up something special for the occasion--a Sri Lankan delicacy called Lampreis, which consists of an entire rice & curry meal bundled up and steamed in a banana leaf. The dish includeds a base of short-grain samba rice cooked in a rich marrow bone stock along with an eggplant curry; a fish cutlet or frikadel; a mixed meat curry of beef, chicken, and pork; spicy sambal; plantain curry; and blachan (a condiment of Indonesian origin made of dried prawns, onions, salt, lime and spices all ground together into a paste). Rounded off with some mixed Sri Lankan appetizers and caramel pudding (flan) for dessert, this is the perfect menu for lounging on a boat with some cool drinks and cool people, and enjoying the music and the waterfront ambience.
